PREVALENCIA Y FACTORES ASOCIADOS AL CONSUMO DE CIGARRILLO EN VIDEO JUGADORES COLOMBIANOS DE 18 A 60 AÑOS DE EDAD: COLGAM STUDY

Resumen


El problema del consumo de cigarrillos no se limita al campo económico, su mayor impacto lo ocasiona sobre la salud de la población, debido a sus efectos sobre la morbilidad y la mortalidad. Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia y los factores sociodemográficos asociados al consumo tradicional de cigarrillos en una muestra de videojugadores colombianos entre 18 y 60 años de edad. Metodología: estudio descriptivo transversal en 668 videojugadores colombianos, entre 18 y 60 años de edad, que reportaron usar una consola de videojuegos todos los días. La información se tomó mediante una encuesta autoadministrada y anónima, que se llevó a cabo por internet. Para el análisis se calcularon proporciones de consumo, y para las asociaciones se realizaron modelos de regresión logística binaria bivariable y multivariable. Resultados: Se encontró que el 7,2 % de los participantes refirieron que consumían cigarrillos a diario, y el 8,1 % acusaron consumirlos de manera esporádica. Ser mayor de 26 años, declararse ateo y tener pareja conyugal, mostraron la mayor prevalencia de consumo diario de cigarrillos (10,1 %, 10,1 % y 8,1 %, respectivamente). Ser mayor de 26 años (OR 2,94 IC95 % 1,47-5,87) y profesar el ateísmo (OR 2,05 IC95 %1,01-4,14), se asociaron con el consumo diario de cigarrillos. Conclusión: La prevalencia de consumo de cigarrillos es alta en la muestra estudiada. Estos datos podrían utilizarse para ofrecer programas de intervención educativa acerca de los riesgos del consumo de dichos productos a base de tabaco.
