Action Movies To Watch If You Love Car Crashes

por Marjorie Boas (2020-01-23)

When it comes to having a good time at a movie theater, you really can't go wrong with action movies. In fact, you could make the argument that these films are the epitome of what going to the movies is all about. You go to the movies because you want to have fun and watch something that dazzles the senses. Surround sound adds to the experience, and you're literally immersed in the action sequences, which makes you feel like you are a part of the nail-biting fun.

And almost nothing is more awesome than some car crash goodness on the big screen.

Sure, the car chase builds the tension, but the crash is what you really want to see. It's what many folks watch auto-racing for in the first place. It's what makes racing video games that much more thrilling. It's why demolition derbies are a thing and have been for decades. There's something primal about them, and as with most primal things, it's hard to just shut this part of our psyche off. There's also the idea that we're always told that car accidents usually result in serious accidents or fatalities, but some of our favorite on-screen heroes walk away from massive car crashes with only a few scratches as though they're superhuman.

There are a lot of reasons why car crashes on film seem to attract us, but not all car crashes are the same. In fact, some are just pretty mundane. Some, however, have had a lasting impact on viewers and have etched a place in cinematic lore for being epic.

If you love action movies AND car crashes, here are a few movies you need to see:

The Blues Brothers ⏤ It's a comedy and a musical vehicle for the real-life band of the same name, 성인웹툰 but you can't beat the iconic cameos in the film or the INSANE mall sequence this movie is famous for.

Smokey and the Bandit ⏤ The entire movie is about being chased across multiple state lines by law enforcement to deliver beer. Not only do many squad cars end up in disrepair, but nothing beats the shape of Sheriff Buford T. Justice's own car at the end of the movie.

Mad Max ⏤ Set in a somewhat dystopian future where "Glory Roaders" are roaming around and taking property and lives, take-no-guff cops patrol the land trying to maintain some kind of order. Given the budget and the time period, it's amazing what this film accomplishes, plus it's legacy is astounding.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry ⏤ One of the more intense Bonnie & Clyde type on-screen couples you'll ever see on film, this movie not only gave you some amazing car chase sequences, but it gave you quite possibly the greatest car crash ever put on film when you least expected it.

Gone in 60 Seconds ⏤ No, not the one you're thinking, the original version from the 70s. It's a classic for a reason and is known for a car chase that is in real-time, goes on for about half the movie across a few cities, and wrecks/destroys nearly 100 cars.

Car crashes aside, action movies have a level of adrenaline built into them that's hard to beat by any other genre. You'd be hard-pressed to see a Victorian romantic epic have the same action as Die Hard, for example. The point is that sometimes a movie that's meant to just be fun, raw, action-packed, and a little on the crazy side is part of what makes going to the movies a blast. Watching a bunch of car smashing is just the cherry on top!
