Massage therapy has become more popular in the western world than it has been at any time in the past. That's saying something, considering massage therapy has been around more than written history. There's significant evidence to indicate that massage was once a central part of medicine in several ancient cultures. Depictions of massage have emerged on Egyptian tombs and in ancient Chinese medical texts. Even Hippocrates, the undisputed father of western medicine, cited"rubbing" as something which should be understood by all doctors. |
