In 1974, in hopes of moving right into the NBA, a contest was held to find a new nickname for the Rockets, as the label was already used by the Houston Firecrackers. The name Nuggets won, having been the label initially used by the Denver 1949-50 NBA franchise business. Their new logo was a miner holding an ABA round. |
